If you’re a West Virginia taxpayer or business owner, you could be eligible for the Motor Vehicle Property Tax Adjustment Credit—and it’s HUGE. This credit applies to nearly every resident and business that pays vehicle property tax in WV. Best of all, it’s refundable, meaning you can still receive it even if you don’t owe state income taxes on your WV Form IT-140.
To claim this valuable credit, most taxpayers simply need to complete and attach Form MV-1 to their West Virginia income tax return.
The West Virginia State Tax Department is responsible for mailing these forms to eligible taxpayers (which includes nearly everyone). However, many people haven’t received theirs yet. While the mailing date is unclear, it’s expected by January 31st.
But you don’t have to wait! You can download your MV-1 Credit Letter online from the WV State Tax Department website.

⚠ Important Note for Businesses: Business entities also qualify for this credit, but there is currently no direct online link for businesses to retrieve their MV-1 forms. These forms may not yet appear in MyTax Accounts, so be sure to check directly with the WV Tax Department.

Great class! It provided step-by-step instruction, which I was able to use in my practice right away. I was unsure whether or not to pay for this class since I found it via YouTube, but to those on the fence, I feel confident that the teacher is an expert in this area, and the materials and videos are well worth the price. I will be checking in with them in the future for more continuing education.

- Josh, Charles Town, WV, Real Estate Agent Tax-Cut Library, Agent Edition CourseI thought the course on 1120-h was excellent and have shared your website with other hoa board members. It was clear to me that Brett understood a volunteer HOA board that could not afford tax accountant guidance.
- Terri S, Henrico, VA, 1120-H Basics CourseI haven’t practiced in the accounting field in quite some time and wanted a refresher. The Overnight Account course 1099-Misc Basics was very helpful! It was simple to follow along and understand each section. I would highly recommend this course! Staff were quick to answer my question as well. I love that I can review the modules again, if needed, at any time. I will definitely be using them again for more classes.
